This week we discussed the similarities and differences between DI, SIADH, DM, DKA, and HHS.
We created the chart below which everyone is going to take home, go through to clean it up, and make any additions or corrections that are needed. We will discuss updates and upload the completed chart next week.

We also discussed resuscitation of a patient with hemoabdomen. Bridget emailed out the case information. Before next week everyone is supposed to review the case and decide how they would handle this case if it presented again. Everyone should come prepared to talk about changes you would make, if any. Consider how to stabilize patient, initial diagnostics, treatments, monitoring plans, etc. Basically start to finish, what would you do?

Questions to review prior to the next session:
1. Reviewed the physiology of the renin, angiotensin, aldosterone system. Include triggers/stimuli, inhibitors, effects on various body systems.
2. Causes of secondary diabetes insipidus
3. Why does positive pressure ventilation cause a decrease in ANP, and what is the overall effect of this?
4. What are the the different blood components available for transfusion, describe the characteristics & indications for each product
